Welcome to our release notes! Curious and want to learn more? Discover Open Social.

What has been improved?

Group memberships in user export

The user export keeps improving! Remember, user information is a gold mine for understanding how your community is being used. We’ve added the number of groups that your users have joined and the names of these groups to the exported user data. This file contains a lot more information than the people overview in Open Social.

Create more attractive content

Content is often the life of the community; think topics, comments, posts, etc. We’ve updated the content editor so that you can create more attractive links and buttons and add other special Open Social styling to your text. Interesting content is key, but it doesn’t hurt if it looks attractive too!

Stay up-to-date with events

As an event organizer, you want to stay updated with the activities around your event, or better yet, who is actually going! Now, you receive a notification when someone has enrolled in your event. This way, you can stay updated off the platform as well.

Event description updated

We’ve noticed that some users would confuse two types of dates that were on the full display of event pages: the date when the event was created and the actual date of the event. We don’t want people showing up at the wrong time. Therefore, the system creation date of an event has been removed from the full display.

Icon image more prominent in teasers:

If no image is uploaded to a content type, the teaser shows an icon in the top left and a big empty area is shown with a background color. We have now ensured that the icon gets a more prominent place in the teaser to give it a complete look and keep it consistent with our design choices.

Bug fixes

Notification emails: An empty space used to appear in the notification emails when there was no tag was set. This has now been fixed.

Second ‘Read more’ link removed: We fixed an issue that caused featured blocks on landing pages to show the ‘Read More’ link twice.

Social buttons improved: A recent update caused a visual issue with the social sharing buttons. These buttons are now properly displayed again.

Notification inception: After this release, you will not receive notifications when you like your own comments or posts.

Landing page improvement: Previously, when you featured a landing page without a hero section on another landing page, the text ‘Array’ could be seen on top of the teaser. This has been removed.

Resized images fixed: Some images used to be resized using image_resize, rather than the scale and crop type. This would sometimes result in skewed images. This has been fixed.

All day’ event formatting: When you save an "all day" event, it disables the "time" form element and sometimes resulted in formatting issues. This has now been fixed!

All titles uncapitalized: Capitalization in titles causes problems for accessibility. We have ensured that all titles will be uncapitalized.
