New Features/ Enhancements

There are several improvements in this release:

  • Embed media in post, comment and description fields

Embedding media such as Tweets, Youtube videos, and Facebook posts is now possible for post, comment and description fields (such as event descriptions, group descriptions, and self introductions). This feature makes sharing relevant media much easier.

  • Event labels on create/edit

Labels have been added to event date and time fields to make them easier to understand.

  • Navigation icon settings

We’ve created a setting so you can determine if you want to show the “my groups” button and/or the private message envelope in the main menu. The reason we have created this setting was because of navigation implications on the mobile view.

Hiding those icons does not disable the functionality, it just hides it in the menu.

Bug-fixes

We also worked on other bug-fixes to ensure that Open Social works reliably. Most important ones:

  • Image cropping:

The bug of causing some image cropping components to be too small is fixed.

  • Sort order groups overview on user’s profile:

When viewing a user’s groups, the groups are now sorted from new to old based on when they were created. Previously, it was the other way around.

  • Media Embed responsive:

Embedded content was not responding to screen-widths. We now set maximum width for devices to 100%, so embeds are not cut off on mobile devices.

Enjoy Open Social!
