Badges & Certificates Extensions

This chapter explains how the Badge & Certificate features work for regular users, content creators, and site managers.

Note: These features are not part of the default Open Social product (basic/distro), but can be ordered as an extension module.

About the Extension

This feature allows logged-in users who took a course or quiz to earn a badge and a downloadable PDF certificate. Site managers have statistics on the performance of the participants and a report of completion.

Add a Badge

To add a badge: Login > go to Content > Badges > add a Badge admin/content/badge/add

badge

After you clicked the blue button '+Add a badge' you land on the edit page where you can fill in the details. This includes:

  • Title

  • Description

  • Image (you can choose an image that reflects the badge).

  • Triggers (select the course that will trigger the badge after completion, it's an autocomplete field, so just start typing).

  • Check the 'Certificate' checkbox (to be able to generate the certificate after course completion).

Certificate

After you checked the 'Certificate' checkbox, you will have some options to customize the certificate.

After you pressed 'Save' and a user will finish the course you chose, the badge (with the selected image) will be shown on the profile page at the Information tab.

Finally, the badge is clickable. So, if the user clicks the badge, the certificate appears and it's ready to be printed or downloaded!
